Muse Of Nightmares by Laini Taylor 5 stars. Perfection. Read Strange The Dreamer.

Heart Of Iron by Ashley Poston 5 stars. Anastasia meets Firefly.

Things I’ve learnt about myself:

• I love LOVE all fantasy and when I am not reading fantasy, I’m thinking about reading fantasy!
• I can book slump myself by forcing myself to read a book I don’t want to read.
• There is such a thing as “Reading too many fae books in a row”
• I finally taught myself to DNF. I still feel bad, but I cant spend time pushing through a book I am not enjoying when there are hundreds of books I want to read.

Most Anticipated Books For 2019

Fairyloot. Cruel Prince. THAT ENDING. Ridiculous wait.

• King Of Scars by Leigh Bardugo RD: 29th January 2019

I read the Grisha trilogy for the first time this year. And… wow. Yeah. I need this book.

• A Curse So Dark And Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer RD: 29th January 2019

If you have seen the holographic beauty that is this book and don’t want to read it still, I applaud you, you have succeeded in being a much better human than me. Also, it’s a Beauty and the Beast retelling.

• Kingsbane by Claire Legrand RD: 21st May 2019

I loved Furyborn, the characters, the story, the way things knit together even 1000 years apart! I need more. Today.

• Queen Of Ruin by Tracy Banghart RD: 11th July 2019

Another follow-up to a Fairyloot introduction, Grace and Fury was such good fun but I really, really, really, want more.

• Soul Of Stars by Ashley Poston RD: 23rd July 2019

Firefly meets the Anastasia story follow on. Plus LGBTQ and SO. MUCH. SASS.

• These Divided Shores by Sara Raasch RD: 1st September 2019

Pirates and herbology and war and terrifying politics and Deveraux Bell.

• The Starless Sky by Erin Morgenstern RD: 5th November 2019

A new Erin Morgenstern. And it sounds incredible.

Nearly all of these are follow ons from books I read this year 🙂 There are other reads I am excited for but these are ones I have pre-ordered and therefore are my MOST anticipated reads.

Resolutions for 2019!

• I am hoping to go back to Japan in 2020, and that needs money! So, I am allowing myself pre-orders but I can only buy 1 book a month, that is NOT a pre-order. (We all know this will be broken before February) With the birth of Bythe100thpage I went a little crazy and bought A LOT of books in 2017 including when I went to YALC, which I will not be doing in 2019.

• Read what I have. I would like to read the books I own on my shelves (see above photo, taken Nov’18, every book with its spine to the wall is unread by me!) before buying more, this will go hand in hand with the above statement.
• Learn conversational Japanese! This is a big ask but I want to try if I do return to Japan. (Any tips, hints, tricks and help from the beautiful book community would be greatly appreciated.)

I think these are enough for 2019.

Books I’d Like To Read In 2019

But our challenges are only 12 books, so we can spread them out over the year.

I’d like to read all my pre-orders in the year I order them, see above for that list.

A classic. I’d like to return to Dracula, but I may find an audiobook, as I struggle with the language of it. As it is not the shortest book either… 488 pages. I’d read alongside the audio but I think it would help to have it read to me.

I’m still not 100% sure if I want to finish Sarah J Maas’ A Court Of series, but it’s going on the list as its on the shelves and I would like a bit more Cassian in my life.
